Cooperatives are unique. In the dictionary, they are defined as "a business owned by the people who use its services; based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity; in the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others". Although this definition dates back many years, United Electric believes it still holds true.
As a member of United Electric Cooperative, you are more than just a consumer paying a bill. You are a member-owner. A member-owner that has a say in the way your cooperative runs; a member-owner who can elect directors to represent you at the Annual Membership Meeting; a member-owner who is important to your electric cooperative.
